38-metre-high dam is being built in North Africa with a combination of 3 PASCHAL systems

The Algerian dam project to supply drinking water and for irrigation is being built with 3 PASCHAL systems.

On behalf of the Algerian Agency for Infrastructure, the dam is being built to supply drinking water to the three cities of Ain Ferrah, Abtal El Oued and Sidi Abdeljabar and for irrigation of the lowlands in Kachout. Algeria is investing around 20 million euros in the project.

Construction work began in February 2013 and, according to the construction schedule, should be completed in December 2016.
PASCHAL's regular customer SEROR from Algeria is using formwork material from the PASCHAL brand for the formwork and scaffolding tasks for the successful implementation of the important infrastructure project.
For the realisation of the challenging dam project in Oued Taht Mascara, SEROR is using 125 m2 of Modular universal formwork, 200 m2 of TTR Trapezoidal girder circular formwork and 70 units of SPK 270 dam brackets, so that both the quality of execution and the construction schedule could be met.
During the planning of the formwork, the SEROR construction company received direct support from the PASCHAL representative "Bureau de Liaison Algérie".

On the left of the photo, a part of the protruding dam crest is clad with SPK 270 dam brackets, laid with Trapezoidal girder circular formwork TTR segments.

65,000 m3 of concrete are needed and are divided into 29,000 m3 for preparatory measures and 36,000 m3 for the dam wall and additional building structures.

200 concrete sections, each measuring 93 m2 are necessary for the concreting work of the dam. The 3 PASCHAL systems are combined with each other, depending on the technical formwork challenges faced. This mutual compatibility is a particular advantage of the PASCHAL systems. The 3 PASCHAL systems have demonstrated their practical suitability, even under difficult conditions, as well as their simple and flexible handling during the realisation of this important infrastructure project to great effect. The employees of the SEROR construction company, who have been working with PASCHAL on formwork tasks since 1985 and are highly familiar with the systems, also value the advantages offered by the PASCHAL systems.
For the semi-spherical dam wall which is vertical to the mountain and slightly inclined toward the valley, the TTR Trapezoidal girder circular formwork was used for each concrete section as the formwork for both the interior and the exterior.
For shaping the protruding dam crest that follows the curvature of the dam horizontally, the SPK 270 dam brackets were laid with TTR elements.
The Trapezoidal girder circular formwork is ideal for formwork for the horizontal and vertical curvatures, regardless of whether they are arched slightly or have tight radii. The Trapezoidal girder formwork can be continuously adjusted, for diameters of 2 to 5 m and from 5 m to infinite. With just 0.28 to 0.55 tiepoints/m2, it ensures fast and exact construction.

The Modular formwork, designed as hand-set and universal formwork, impresses in this Algerian dam project thank to its versatility and ease of use.
In the dam project, it is used as formwork for the foundation anchor and for straight-running reinforced concrete structures. In combination with the TTR Trapezoidal girder circular formwork, it is used for formwork for concrete structures that are put together from curved and from straight forms and that are concreted in one cycle. In this way, they allow concrete structures to be implemented perfectly at low cost and with short construction periods, even with unusual boundary conditions.
